GIRL!!!  GET UP!

I know that sometimes it may be hard. It may feel like every time you make progress a big rottweiler comes and knocks you down like you’re a toddler taking your first steps. You may not always feel like getting back up or it may even feel impossible to try. Sometimes, the depression is so crippling. But GIRL!!!!!!!!! GET UP!!!!! If you are content with staying down, making excuses, and have convinced yourself that other things and other people are keeping you down…. This is not for you. If you are wanting to move forward and you need a little nudge, keep reading.

Don’t let anything or anyone keep you down. It may be a constant fight, but this fight became yours to teach and strengthen you. Why do I say this? When you go through things that feel heavy, it is one of those things that will build you up the most. It prepares you so that you will be able to handle things that are not as heavy. No, it’s not a punishment. It is a lesson, one that you will not only help you but will also help others as well.

Don’t Believe Me?!

Think back to a time where you had an experience that would’ve driven you mad had you not experienced something much bigger and much worse. Something that prepared you without you even realizing it. The preparation you had in the past made this new experience a walk in the park. Well, maybe not a walk in the park. Let’s say it was a skate across thin ice. We’re still human and most of our bad experiences make us feel terrible a lot of the time.

Now, think back to those situations where you have experienced the same thing over and over again. Situations will repeat themselves when there is a lesson that you are not getting. They will even get worse if you refuse to learn the lesson and learn how to navigate through these situations like the captain of a ship. Some of us love to use our mental health diagnosis as a crutch. SO much so that we let this diagnosis be the iceberg to our Titanic. Some of us self-diagnose ourselves and use it as a scapegoat to try and excuse our actions instead of taking responsibility for them. GIRL!!! GET UP! And take responsibility for your actions.

GET UP!

And strategically fight whatever that is that is holding you back from doing the work that you need to do. I know what it’s like not to be able to get up because your depression is sitting on you. I know what it’s like to keep putting things off because you “just can’t” right now. I know what it Is like to avoid going outside because you would rather stay in your darkroom with silence as your soundtrack.

We can’t get anything done unless we get up. We can do it TOGETHER!! Sometimes, it takes a team to get things done. There are times where it feels like every direction we turn; we get hit over and over again. When you have someone there with you the power you share with each other will make those blows easier to withstand. Why?! Because those blows become weaker.

What can you do to help you get up?

MEDITATE

THERAPY

REACH OUT FOR HELP

RECEIVE HELP THAT IS BEING OFFERED

FORMULATE YOUR PLAN OF ACTION

JUST DO IT!! – If this one is meant for you, you will understand it!

Your current situation may feel unbearable right now, but you’ll look back on it later and you will be proud that you made it through that storm. Like the saying goes “Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path”. You’ve been through so many storms and you were able to withstand every single one. We’re at a point in our lives where it is imperative for us to take a stand.  We must handle the things that we must handle.

How can we be a light when we’re letting other things and other people dim or shine? You cannot navigate through a storm without a light. For those who have kids, nieces, nephews, and/or people who look up to you, it is your job to be the light that guides them. Even if it seems like they may not be watching or listening to what you do and say, it is your job to be the example for them. They’ll catch up eventually. But you cannot help yourself or anyone else until you get up. So, GIRL!!! GET UP!
