Over the past few months, I’ve been debating on whether I should make this post or not. I will admit that it would have been out of anger in the past. So, I sat on it until I felt that I was ready to talk about it. Just recently, I was scrolling down my timeline on Facebook and I saw a post about it. I read through it and nodded my head in agreement because I had experienced most of what was in the post. Let’s Get Spiritual! Here are the slides that were shown:
The slides above show some reasons why some people ultimately walk away from the Church. For those who have walked away, seek God and Truth for yourself. It may lead some of you back to the Church; however, choose your Church Home wisely! Of course, you may still have issues with the members, that come with dealing with other people in general. Just ignore it.
Yes, it sounds weird coming from me. My experience led me to believe that I had to be religious in order to know God because I believed what I was told. So, I was lost for a while. I stopped believing in God when I was a kid, then I started believing again and was angry at God for every bad thing that I went through and for what others went through. I blamed God for the things that Church Leaders did. Everything under the sun was the fault of God in my eyes.
I finally decided to sit still, listen, and learn who God was on my own. I learned that everything happened for a reason. It helped me grow mentally and spiritually. Did I go back to religion? No. Did I go back to the church? Yes. Do I agree with everything that is said there? No; However, I realized that we all have a lot of spiritual growth that has to be accomplished. Being back in the church helps me in so many ways.
There are a few spiritual leaders that make me think, which I enjoy. Others? Not so much but I just keep quiet. What gives me joy is seeing people from different beliefs and religions agree on some of the same things. Whether they want to admit it or not. The crazy part is that the same things are said, believed, and done but a lot of the times every religion has a different name for it. I sit there saying to myself “if they only knew”, every time they talk about people outside of the church.
Some people may condemn others because of their religion. Some people believe that their religion is the only true religion. And there are those who are spiritual who learn about different religions and accept everyone regardless of their religion. This is where I am. I’ve learned so much about everyone and I accept everyone. I do not try to get people to denounce their religion or recruit them either; However, I do encourage people to become better versions of themselves. I also show them how.
If you are called to be a spiritual leader. Lead people to become better. Don’t beat them up for doing wrong. Show them what is right without condemning them. A lot of individuals need help, especially with the current state of the world. With that being said, I have compiled a list of some reasons why people leave the church.
A Few Reasons:
-Lack of Mental Health Support
-Excused behavior of leaders and blame placed on an individual
-To get rid of conditioning
As you can see, there are many reasons why people leave the church. The goal is, to listen to those who need to be heard. Help those, who want to be helped. And show others that nobody is perfect and we all have a lot to learn.
I want to thank the original poster @yourfavoriteheretics on Instagram for letting me use the slides above. The creators are a family who helps those that are on their spiritual journey. Those who have been hurt, those who are lost, those who need to be heard. Their purpose is to bring to light what needs to be seen and addressed which is something that I can get behind.
